Calibre Audio - Free Audiobooks For Children And Young Adults With Send

Description

Service Description

Calibre Audio is a national charity which provides audiobooks to anymore with a print disability. Our membership is free of charge to children and young under 25 years with SEND. Our service makes books and stories accessible to children who find reading print difficult because of a learning difference, long term health condition or disability. We have over 18,000 titles in our collection.

Reading lets children discover new worlds, meet new people and learn about the past. It sparks imagination, gets children thinking differently and helps them develop empathy. Research from the National Literacy Trusts shows that listening to audio can provide a gateway into reading for many young people, and we know this is especially important for children who have a special educational need, long term health condition or disability which impacts on their ability to read print.
