Measles: Important Information for Families
Measles cases are rising in London, and it’s important for families to stay aware of the symptoms and how to protect their children. Younger children, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of becoming seriously unwell if they catch measles. Early symptoms can feel like a cold and may include a high temperature, a runny or blocked nose, sneezing, coughing and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash a few days later. If you think you or your child may have measles, please call your GP or NHS 111 before visiting a healthcare setting.
The best protection is having both doses of the MMR vaccine. Please check your child’s vaccination record, and if any doses are missing, contact your GP as soon as possible.
