LBTH Inclusive Play Project

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is working to improve outdoor play spaces across the borough. Tower Hamlets have asked Innovate Create Educate Limited, led by Paul Jackson, a former LBTH headteacher, to work with the community to help identify and find solutions for overcoming barriers to outdoor play for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families.

Our Mission: The aim of the project is to ensure play spaces across Tower Hamlets are areas that are
enjoyable and accessible for every child, especially those with SEND.

Why This Matters: Recognising the importance of play in a child's development, Tower Hamlets are
committed to ensuring that their play spaces meet the needs of all children, including those with SEND.

Your Role in Phase 1 - Community Engagement: In this first phase, your perspective as a professional is vital. We're reaching out to gather your valuable insights on how to make these play areas better for
your children.

Survey Focus: The survey will explore:

  • How your children with SEND currently use play spaces.
  • Any challenges or barriers they face.
  • Your ideas for making these spaces more inclusive and enjoyable
