The Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a non means tested welfare benefit for children under 16 with an illness or a disability who need help with getting around and/or help with personal care. Children who will turn 16 from 1 October 2013 will be invited to claim Personal Independence Payments, which will gradually replace DLA for adults and young people over 16.
