Tower Hamlets Opportunties Group (THOG)
Additional Information
Additional Information
This is a playgroup for children in Tower Hamlets. The service offers children the opportunity to be integrated into a fully inclusive play setting. The service also undertakes outreach to support early identification and early intervention of children with disability and additional needs. Staff members follow the child through their play and educational experiences from 15 months (first home visit) up until they move onto school and offer a range of learning experiences. It could be the very first time parents see the outcome of the significance of play and of their child being part of a peer group. The Opportunity Group can reduce isolation and lead to feeling part of the wider community, for both children and their families.
Support is given to parents, carers and children to encourage confidence, self-esteem and to enjoy early play opportunities at a secure and safe setting which can lead to sharing new experiences and becoming active learners. The playgroup session starts from 9.30am to 12.30pm. 51% of places are taken up by children with disabilities/additional needs.
