Day nurseries provide childcare and learning for children from birth to 5 years. They can be run by private businesses, voluntary groups or by the local authority. All day nurseries on the Family Services Directory are registered with Ofsted. Hours vary and usually part time and full time places are available.
The setting is based around Montessori principles. The aim of all the activities provided at the setting is to provide each child with keys to the world around them. The materials provided to the children give them concrete experiences to help them classify the impressions they receive from their senses. Children are offered practical life activities, sensorial materials, languages, mathematics, crafts, science and historical activities.
