Geffrye Museum Of The Home
Description
Service Description
The Geffrye Museum explores the home from 1600 to the present day. Evocative displays of period urban living rooms and gardens illustrate homes and home life through the centuries, reflecting changes in society, behaviour, style and taste. The museum is set in beautiful 18th century almshouse buildings surrounded by gardens which provide an oasis in the heart of Hoxton. The award-winning walled herb garden and period gardens are open between April-October. Entry is free to both the museum and gardens.
Family days for children of all ages and their families with drop-in activities including crafts workshops, storytelling sessions and music performances are run on selected weekends throughout the year. Craft workshops and activities for children aged 2-16 take place each school holiday. Free activity backpacks, audio guides, quizzes and trails are available for families during holidays and weekend afternoons. All children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult
