Developmental Language Disorder

We are a team of speech and language therapists who work within the Language Resource Provision at Globe Primary School, which provides specialist support for children with a diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).

DLD is a lifelong of speech, language and communication need (SLCN) that affects the way that children understand and use language. It's extremely common - one study showed 7.5% of children have DLD but it is greatly under recognised despite its known impact on education, mental health and long term life prospects without significant support in place.

Speech and language therapists (SLTs) support people with DLD and those around them, teaching them strategies which aim to reduce the impact of their difficulties and develop their language abilities to their maximum potential.
