This is a time of great optimism at Bow. To deliver on our vision of outstanding outcomes for all we have embedded innovative and effective teaching across the curriculum, and expanded learning opportunities beyond the classroom through a range of partners. We harness their energy, skills and experience to open doors to the wider world.

Our success is founded on the principle of demanding more; more from ourselves, more from students and staff, and more from parents and partners. By doing this we challenge everyone within our community to achieve more than they thought possible. This allows students to aspire for greatness, whether that be taking up places at top universities, securing careers with leading employers or establishing their own enterprises.

Our role is not to dictate students’ destinations, but to provide them with the tools they need to realise their dreams. We firmly believe our culture facilitates this by allowing everyone to learn from mistakes, explore new opportunities and ignite passions they didn’t realise they had.

We are committed to achieving this through our key values:
• Curiosity
• Adaptability
• Respect
• Responsibility
• Determination

These values define our expectations of everyone at the school. We believe by living and breathing them our students will be prepared for the rigours of modern society and that staff will be enabled to offer the best to the community we serve.

Our exceptionally strong links with business provide all of our students with the important knowledge and awareness of the key employability skills they will need in their lives to make them truly career and world ready. Business mentoring, visits to the workplace and enterprise education are just a part of the wide-ranging employability programme that is embedded into all areas of school life. Bow students are ambitious and this drives their strong work ethic.

The development of leadership skills is key at Bow. From sports captains to music leaders, school council representatives to prefects, subject leaders to the senior leadership team, all members of the school community are encouraged and supported in developing as leaders.

Our broad curriculum allows all students to follow both traditional ‘academic’ as well as more creative subjects deepening their knowledge in all areas of the curriculum as they learn and make progress throughout their learning journey. In the Lower School (years 7 – 9) all students study the full range of subjects. In the upper school pathways allow for some specialism but continue to encourage breadth; we recognise that it is not appropriate at this stage to narrow choices too much.

The Waterside Theatre, a 300 seat performance space, provides us with the facility to showcase our talent in the creative and performing arts as well as in public speaking. The large atria in the main school building are wonderful exhibition areas, enabling the students to showcase their art and design work for all to see.

We firmly believe that partnerships with other organisations enrich and improve the learning of our students. To this end we have very strong links with local organisations such as Bow Arts Trust, The Tower Hamlets Education Partnership, IntoUniversity, The Education Business Partnership, and Speakers for schools amongst a range of others.

We are incredibly proud of all of our students this and their successes at GCSE and A Levels each year. Many of our students remain with us in our close-knit Sixth Form and move onto places at Universities across the country including many to the Russell Group Universities.

Bow has a personalised approach to CPD for all staff, providing a wide range of opportunities for everyone to develop the key skills they need to progress as teachers, leaders or administrators. Action research and collaborative projects are actively encouraged and each year several staff undertake external courses, such as a Masters degree.

For more information, our website is a celebration of the wide range of achievements of our young people and will give you an indication of the many opportunities open to all Bow School students. Visitors are always welcome to make an appointment for a visit to the school, where conversations with staff and students will provide further information about the school.
