Service Description

Fern Street Settlement Family Centre exists to help families with children aged 0-11 live life to the full in Bow. We work with our local community in Bow to offer opportunities including: play and early learning activities for children under 5, out-of-school clubs for older children and a wide of groups for parents including ESOL, social support groups and parenting courses and workshops. We also offer one-to-one family support to parents to help them get on top of the challenges of family life.

Sing Together – Rhyme, music, story and song session for ages 0-4, developing your child’s communication skills

Baby play – play session, including sensory play, for babies up to 15 months

Baby Massage – 4 x 1 hour sessions

ESOL:
-Mums ESOL Conversation club (drop-in, women-only)
-Pre-entry ESOL course (closed session, women-only)
-ESOL and Health – for entry levels 1-3 (closed session)

Social/Support Groups
-Parents cooking group (open session)
-DIY Health: Children’s health discussion group (closed session)

One-to-one family support (self-refer, or by referral)

Parenting Workshops and courses
-Triple P parenting course
-Schoolkit (3 workshops equipping parents to support their children to get most out of school)
-Teentalk workshops (open session, parents of ages 11+)
-Early Learning Matters workshops: learning more about how child development and stimulating your child’s learning through play (drop-in, parents of ages 0-5

Family Learning
-Fun Family English – family learning ESOL for parents of children under 5 (closed session)
