Description

Service Description

The Prince’s Trust offers a range of programmes for vulnerable young people aged 13-30 who are struggling in education or unemployed. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or have been in trouble with the law.

We offer free programmes that provide young people with the practical and financial support they need to stabilise their lives. We help them develop key skills while boosting their confidence and motivation.

Delivered directly by the Prince’s Trust:

1. Fairbridge
Our Fairbridge programme offers young people aged 16-25 a mix of group activities and one-to-one support to develop the skills and confidence needed to move forward.
Starting with a five-day Access course, young people get the chance to do outdoor adventurous activities, as well as take part in a residential trip. Once the Access course is complete, they can choose from lots of follow-on activities from sports to drama and photography to cooking. We’ll work with each young person to help reach their goals.

2. Get Started

For young people aged 16-25 and out of work, education or training, Get Started will give young people the chance to take part in a week of activities with help from inspirational experts. Working with partners including the Premier League, ASOS and Sony, they work towards a group challenge while developing their skills and confidence. As with all Prince’s Trust programmes, it’s completely free and won’t affect Jobseeker’s Allowance. We’ll even throw in lunch and cover travel expenses.
We wrap up the course by celebrating everything the group have achieved with a special event.

3. Get Into

Our Get into programme for 16 to 25-year-olds give young people the experience and training needed to move into a job.
With programmes running in a number of sectors - including retail, construction, logistics and hospitality – young people spend time training on the job and gain valuable work experience in their chosen sector. We focus on core employability skills and provide pastoral support to help young people move into a job after the course.

4. Enterprise Programme

The Enterprise Programme supports young people aged 18 to 30, living in the UK and unemployed, to explore their business idea.
It starts with an informations session followed by a four-day interactive workshop where young people are taught everything from business planning and marketing to sales, budgeting and tax.
After this, the young people decide whether self-employment is right for them. If it is, we support each young person to plan and test their idea and give them the opportunity to apply for funding. Once they've launched their business, we'll provide them with an experienced business mentor who will be on hand to share advice every step of the way - for up to two years.
