Service Description

Cambridge Heath Sixth Form

A partnership between Morpeth, Oaklands and Swanlea Schools.

Opened in September 2009 and has grown year by year. 684 students overall in September 2012 (185 students studying level 3 courses in year 13; 402 studying level 3 courses in year 12; 68 studying Level 2 courses and 29 at Foundation Level).

Due to a Power to Innovate Order reporting to Department of Education as a separate body (Cambridge Heath Sixth Form) and data not included with Oaklands data.

A joint Board of Governors with delegated powers from the three schools’ Governing Bodies oversees the sixth form including admissions, overall standards and finance.

The leadership and management is shared by Senior Leaders from each school and coordinated by small central staff led by the Director of CHSF. Oaklands’ Associate Headteacher meets with the other two Headteachers at least once a fortnight.

Teaching takes place at all three schools and at the Wessex Centre (a small building that houses the central administration, Foundation Learning, the Independent Learning Centre and ten classrooms).
