Service Description

Cambridge Heath Sixth Form is a partnership of three schools, Morpeth, Oaklands and Swanlea schools. As well as being the sixth form for our own pupils, we also offer places to students from other schools in the local area and wider.

Most of our pupils at Morpeth choose to continue into the sixth from with us at CHSF. They know that they will benefit from the same high standards of teaching and learning, have high quality, structured enrichment opportunities and benefit from the same levels of support and guidance that they have enjoyed in years 7 to 11. Cambridge Heath combines the best of both worlds for our pupils, it provides a familiar and supportive setting in which to continue learning beyond 16, with the opportunities to meet a wide range of new people studying at the three campuses.

We offer a wide range of ‘A’ level courses and level 3 BTECs as well as a small offer of level 2 BTECs and Foundation Learning for entry level students.

Each student is allocated to a campus and in most cases all teaching will be based at that campus. Students based at Morpeth campus have access to wide range of facilities including a number of different study areas on the main campus and in our Wessex Wing. Our students benefit from use of their own sixth form dining room at the Wessex Wing as well as the main school facilities.

We provide the same level of support available to years 7 to 11, including a Head of Year who will work with students throughout year 12 and 13, a personal tutor, counselling and other student support services.

Our aim is to ensure each student’s personal success by providing a supportive but challenging learning environment where students will always be treated as an individual, with learning tailored to personal needs. We have Academic Mentors who work with students on an individual basis to provide support and challenge so that each student can achieve beyond expectations. Students with special needs will get support from teaching assistants.

We offer excellent Higher Education advice and other Post 18 support and guidance. We have dedicated staff that support our students in finding volunteering and internship opportunities, they also organise Aim2Attain and Business mentoring for students and other subject specific opportunities via our growing range of business and higher education partners.

There is a wide range of sixth form enrichment, provided by our staff and external providers. The offer includes the Duke of Edinburgh group, Outward Bound, Cookery (in preparation for students moving away from home), Mooting, Debating, Book Club, a 21st Century Science group and a number of sports clubs.
