Half Moon Young People’s Theatre aims to produce and present professional theatre for and with young people that informs, challenges and shapes their artistic potential, placing these creative experiences at the core of our policies and practices.
Half Moon is a small organisation dedicated to making a big impact on the lives of young people.
Based in Tower Hamlets, London, we have been using drama and theatre as a tool for learning and engaging young people in quality theatre since the 1980s. We work with young people of all ages and abilities on a wide variety of participatory projects in schools and community settings. Our professional plays tours nationally, are written by some of the UK's most promising new playwrights and scripts are developed with young people.
We place a particular emphasis on engaging those who may normally be excluded from arts activity, 60% of users are from Black and Ethnic Minority backgrounds, and 10% are disabled.
Half Moon is a regular funded client of Arts Council England and Tower Hamlets, with further financial support from many trusts and foundations and commercial sources.
