Additional Information

This service is for children with Developmental Coordination Disorder and is part of the Children’s Occupational Therapy Service. Symptoms of this disorder include developmental delays such as difficulty with dressing, writing, balancing, displaying weak muscle control and delay at reaching milestones, such as sitting, walking and speaking. Where a child is accepted by the service, Occupational Therapists will treat the child using purposeful play and self-care activities. One or more of the following methods may be used to deliver the service: home and school programmes, advice to parents and teachers, group or individual sessions, liaison with schools, doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists and speech therapists. A confirmation of the child’s diagnosis from a GP/Consultant will be required.
